In-class presentations: We can come to you!

A Historical Interpreter from the Thomas Wolfe Memorial will come to your classroom and give a short presentation about Thomas Wolfe and Asheville in the early 20 th century.   The presentation includes a slide presentation, hands-on activities, and plenty of time for questions.   This is a Free program offered to area schools.   If you are interested in setting up an in-class presentation, please contact the education specialist, Christian Edwards, (828)253-8304.

Traveling Trunks

Traveling Trunks are now available from the Thomas Wolfe Memorial for your classroom. This FREE program addresses the North Carolina Standard Course of Study and contains everything you need for your classroom including:

  • lesson plans;
  • writing prompts;
  • activities;
  • and artifacts for your students to explore!

This experience will be the highlight of your school year!

Our Traveling trunk can be checked out for a two-week period and can be picked up at the Thomas Wolfe Memorial. For more information, or if you would like to use one of our trunks, please call Christian Edwards at the Memorial (828)253-8304 or christian.edwards@ncdcr.gov.
