STUDENT WRITING WORKSHOPS

Open to students in grades 4th - 8th, all classes are held at the Thomas Wolfe Memorial Historic site in downtown Asheville. Participants enjoy writing fiction, creative non-fiction and poetry in the very house that served as the basis for Look Homeward, Angel by Asheville's most famous writer.
   
Through fun, thought-provoking writing exercises and discussion, young writers will find an encouraging community where their creative efforts will shine. Weather permitting, the downtown location also provides opportunities to hunt inspiration on "writing safaris." Class participants will have the opportunity to tour the historic home as writers, not tourists.

Writers of all skill and/or experience level welcome!

Each Class:

• is facilitated by Janet Hurley, local free-lance writer with a Masters in Creative Writing. (check out true-ink.com for more information on Janet's experience)
• is limited to six participants.
• includes an end-of-class public reading for friends and family (participation optional).
• provides the opportunity to publish work on true-ink.com.
• participants provide their own spiral bound notebook, pen or pencil and snack.
